RITE Applauds Gov. DeWine For Signing New Election Integrity Measures Into Law

WASHINGTON, DC – Derek Lyons, CEO and President of RITE – Restoring Integrity and Trust in Elections – issued the following statement today, applauding Ohio Governor Mike DeWine for signing HB 458’s election integrity reforms into law. Lyons said:

“Voters need to have 110% confidence in the system we use to run our elections, and HB 458’s commonsense and broadly popular election security measures move Ohio closer to that essential goal. Elections are our republic’s crown jewels and must be zealously safeguarded. Voter ID, drop-box security, and other policies that enable hard-working election officials to minimize errors and delays in ballot distribution, collection, and tabulation help ensure that elections do what they are intended to do: express the will of the people, quickly and accurately. RITE applauds Ohio for continuing to be a leader in this vital area of public policy.”

“Ohio’s reforms are lawful and will prevent fraud and other misconduct while promoting confidence in elections going forward. The United States Supreme Court and other courts have already upheld similar laws in Indiana, Wisconsin, Georgia, and Virginia – all states where turnout has increased in recent years. RITE is confident that these new reforms will withstand partisan litigation attacks by those with more to gain by casting aspersions on their political opponents than by promoting faith and trust in our elections.”
