Washington, D.C.\u00a0 \u2013 Today a Wisconsin court declared that the Wisconsin Elections Commission (\u201cWEC\u201d) violated the law by empowering local officials to supply information missing from mail-in ballot certifications without voter engagement. Plaintiffs, supported by RITE, argued that unelected bureaucrats simply have no business unilaterally altering information submitted with mail-in ballots. And as the court correctly observed, such misconduct has no basis in Wisconsin law and threatens voter confidence in elections. The court ordered WEC to immediately stop its unlawful behavior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
