WASHINGTON, DC – Derek Lyons, CEO and President of RITE, released the following statement today reacting to the Ohio Supreme Court ruling that rejected a partisan attempt to torpedo Ohio’s upcoming ballot initiative.
“Today’s win for Ohio is a win for the democratic process. The Ohio Supreme Court has put an end to an out-of-state, Dark-money effort to wreck Ohioans’ right to a fair electoral process.”
In a legal brief filed with the Court, RITE established that the partisan litigants suing Ohio should be stopped from adding pages of propaganda to the ballot in an effort to derail a statewide vote on a constitutional amendment.
As RITE explained in its brief:
They want this Court to intervene and thereby delay, or completely derail, a statewide vote on the proposed constitutional amendment. That is, rather than participating in the democratic process through grassroots campaigning or public awareness events, Relators seek to force the democratic process to a halt. They should not be permitted to invoke the power of this Court to further that agenda.
