RITE Pledges to Defend Any New Reforms in Court, Will Act to Stop Partisan Actors
WASHINGTON, DC – Derek Lyons, CEO and President of RITE – Restoring Integrity and Trust in Elections – issued the following statement today supporting efforts underway in the Ohio Legislature to reform and improve Ohio’s election laws. Lyons said:
“In the same way a bank or government asks for a photo ID to prevent fraud, asking for a photo ID is a reasonable method to verify a voter’s identity. The reforms Ohio legislators are proposing will bolster the integrity of the ballot box in the Buckeye state, just as similar reforms in Georgia and Florida have enhanced voter trust there.”
“As it has done in Florida, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and elsewhere RITE is committed to defending reasonable laws that enhance election security against partisan attacks and manipulations. If Ohio lawmakers adopt new election integrity reforms, we will be ready to defend them in court because we know that voter confidence and participation go hand in hand.”
Co-founded in 2022 by National Finance Chairman Steve Wynn, Senior Advisor Karl Rove, and Chairman of the Board Bobby R. Burchfield, RITE is a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization dedicated to protecting the rule of law in elections. Working with some of the finest lawyers in the country, RITE supports faithful enforcement of valid, properly enacted, and adopted laws and regulations that promote secure, efficient, and accurate elections throughout the United States.
