U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida (on appeal to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals)
Vote.org and other liberal groups, represented by left-wing lawyer Marc Elias, asserted that Florida violated the civil rights of its citizens by requiring them to use a pen or a pencil to physically sign their voter registration applications. RITE PAC joined the case to defend Florida’s law from attack. RITE PAC identified the ways in which physical signing requirements promote honest and trustworthy elections, while dismantling Vote.Org’s arguments that the shockingly ordinary requirement somehow imposes a meaningful burden on any person’s right to vote.
In separate orders on October 30, 2023 and November 8, 2023, the district court dismissed the Vote.org lawsuit in full. The Elias-supported plaintiffs have filed an appeal in the Eleventh Circuit, and oral arguments are scheduled for March 3, 2025.
