Restoring Integrity and Trust in Elections (“RITE”) is supporting individual plaintiffs in Pennsylvania who have sued to stop rogue counties from ignoring state election laws and the United States Constitution. Currently, certain counties allow absentee voters to “cure” defective ballots in violation of state law. Counties that do this usurp state and federal authority, create confusion, and undermine equal and fair administration of elections across the Commonwealth.
RITE is supporting this lawsuit in Pennsylvania courts so that voters are treated equally regardless of where they live. RITE opposes the dilution of votes caused by the counties’ unlawful curing procedures.
Derek Lyons, RITE’s President and CEO, issued the following statement:
“RITE is supporting this lawsuit to protect Pennsylvanians from unfair and unequal ballot curing procedures. When voters cast a ballot, they should be confident that their local election officials are following the law, not chasing partisan outcomes. By taking on this fight, RITE seeks to promote uniform and transparent election administration throughout the Commonwealth.”
